Sexual Abuse Awareness and
Prevention Programme (SAAPP) (In progress)

The Trust has funded the development of a psycho-educational programme for children between the ages of five
and fifteen. Focusing on the awareness and prevention of sexual violence, the programme is to be taught via the existing school system.
It is conceived as a four module course, one hour per module, and one course per year. The four modules will be combined with a radio drama series and a theatre production, both of which
address the issue of sexual abuse.
The need for this programme was identified by the Legal Aid & Counselling Clinic in Grenada and arose from urgent and wide-spread cries for help from women and children who live in conditions of financial distress, homelessness, displacement and psychosocial vulnerability of many kinds. Specifically,
the programme recognises that incidences of incest, rape and other forms of sexual violence are endemic in Grenada, and have been prevalent in the society for decades.
