Father Mallaghan Home was founded in 1916 by the Catholic Priest William Mallaghan, and currently has 29 boys in
residence.
The children come from backgrounds of abuse and neglect. Where
circumstances allow, the ultimate goal is to reunite the boys with their families, and teach them to be good citizens in their
communities.
The home is located in the northern parish of St. Marks and it's aims are to provide care, and educational development of male children between the ages of seven
and eighteen.
The boys all share a house that was originally built for a single family, with only two small bathrooms. The sewage system is old and regularly
fails, leaving a very unpleasant odour in the house. The septic tank is
too small for the number of residents.
The Trust is funding a project to plan and build an adequate sewage system for the boys with
appropriate facilities for the staff.
In addition, the Trust has agreed to sponsor a special day outing for the boys as there is no garden and very little recreational space for the boys within the current home.
